Portrait & Watercolour Artist
I began drawing portraits as a child. Then I discovered watercolour painting - and the challenge of working with the added element of colour!
Recently I discovered watersoluble graphite pencils - an irresistible medium for sketching! "Whooper Swan Landing" is an example of these pencils in use. So now I need to make time for portraits, painting and sketching!
I am a Christian, and enjoy living with my family in a village at the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District.
It's a dramatic change from my seaside childhood in Jersey. But just 10 minutes walk away is Carsington Water, a reservoir which attracts many of the shorebirds and waders that I watched as a child, so absorbed that I might not notice the approach of the overdue school bus!
We love to travel as a family - usually in an ancient camper van, sometimes backpacking - but we also enjoy the luxury of being able to walk by the waterside in odd moments. Or in my son's case, running or thrashing a mountain-bike around it!
The sky, the birds, the reflections on the water . . . just let me get my sketch pad . . !
